Education in its real sense
Updated: Nov 22, 2020
“Education in its real sense is the need of the hour, The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education.” -Martin Luther King Jr.
No one actually understands what education is, what it means, why is it needed or even mistake it for literacy and this is where the problems begin. The major focus is paid to the marks one gets, and a teacher’s performance is also measured by the same, depicting how far the society is doomed.
This society is constantly killing qualities like enthusiasm, creativity, cognitive ability and curiosity. Qualities which a child is born with are being brutally murdered by the system. Be it any mode or board of teaching.
It has been said that a child is an empty vessel and is born with the curiosity to fill it. The very basic soul of education is being tattered into little pieces which fit into the system that the britishers established and ruined the age old Indian methods. In today’s day and age we don’t even know what our methods were and are not even discovering new one’s, leading the new generation to be slaves of …………, you can fill in the blank suiting your perception.
The teaching and administration staff are busy filling paper and informing these governing bodies about how and what they do, instead of spending that time into quality education.
The new education system in the country seem to solve it all, but not quite. It is like a wardrobe change, just the sense of style has been altered, although it is a good change but is a small step to a greater objective.
“Education is what remains after one has forgotten what one has learned in school.”
This being said teachers themselves are also to be blamed, well not just the one’s on top of the chain, what they don’t realise is that a generation is dependent on them. what they teach matters, how they teach matters, how they behave matters. Them imparting knowledge creates the base for an individual, I now realise the fault of my teachers when my weaknesses cannot be altered and also thank them who helped me overcome some of those weeknesses. Teachers are not just in school but also at home, your parents and what they teach matters more than anything in life.
Careful teachers of the world, you not only have to leave a better world for the future generation but you also have to leave better people for that future.
